Pune International Airport – realty boom in the offing

Pune International Airport

Pune International Airport

It is a well-established fact that an airport spurts the demand for real estate for the areas in the vicinity. Airports have always contributed to any city’s real estate and economic development by enhancing business activity & thereby boosting employment & purchasing power subsequently increasing the appetite for home ownership. The requirement of rental accommodation also surges for the transitory workforce.

The proposed international airport in Pune is all set to make the city a more economically viable destination resulting in more & more domestic as well as international companies wanting to open up their shops here or even consider business expansion. The city’s real estate will witness a boom and change the overall demand profile. Airports as massive infrastructure undertakings generate employment and largely contribute to the growth of residential real estate in the adjoining areas.

The new proposed international airport at Rajgurunagar lies approximately 40 kilometres to the North of Pune City is a location that already enjoys multiple economic drivers since it is close to the established industrial hubs of Talegaon, Chakan and PCMC. The airport will push both real estate & economic development in these areas carrying the ‘industrial area’ image which have till now kept them primarily as budget housing destinations for blue-collar residents.

Owing to the proposed airport, the areas will see higher demand for larger, better-positioned residential complexes also bringing with it an increased requirement for a more comprehensive network of connecting roads, which will certainly boost the overall viability of real estate in all neighbouring areas. The biggest gainers from the new international airport will be areas conspicuously located near both Pune city as well as MCPc. While Charoli has already established itself as Pune’s new township district with the advent of an ultra-modern 400-plus acre integrated township, the adjoining areas like Dhanori provide ready access to both the existing airport as well as the new international airport.
