Make your bedroom Vastu friendly

Bedroom is a place where one rests after a tiring day at work, that part of home where one seeks tranquility and solace, making it one of the most important areas in the house. Hence, for peace and prosperity of the occupants of the bedroom, it is imperative that it is Vastu compliant.

Here are some simple tips to make your bedroom in conjunction with Vastu elements.

  • The most ideal direction for the master bedroom is South-West which represents the element of Earth and signifies substance & solidity required as the head of the family. This should be avoided as a children’s room though.
  • Paint your bedroom in the South-West direction with shades like brown, almond or tones of earthy colours.
  • Always remember to sleep with your head towards the South, East or West and totally steer clear of North.
  • Ensure that no beam crosses over the bed. In case it does, make necessary changes in the direction of the bed to rectify this.
  • Place the bed either on the walls in the South or West. If this is not possible, keep the bed at least 4” away from the walls.
  • Choose wooden beds instead of wrought iron ones. Prefer the regular square or rectangle shape for your bed rather than some irregular design.
  • Use a single mattress on the bed and avoid double ones.
  • Do not place the bed in front of the bedroom door.
  • Keep the almirahs against the South or West walls.
  • Avoid placement of mirrors in front of the bed. The reflection of your bed should not be seen in the mirror.

Any electronic gadgets or equipment should be fixed or kept away from the range of your head as the electro-magnetic radiations emitted by these devices disturbs sleep.
