Home search is evolving from the traditional broker or word-of-mouth driven to online property search. With the rapid penetration of smartphones in Indian households, looking for property online through mobiles has witnessed nearly 3 times faster growth than through desktops, a recent survey has revealed.

Mobile solutions are taking a ground-breaking leap in helping buyers get the best suited home for themselves. The survey carried out by property portal showed that user-friendly apps and clean website designs have led to a spurt in property search through mobile phones.

According to the report, property search via mobile devices has seen a substantial increase in the last six quarters both in terms of user traffic as well as leads. In January 2014, mobile search for homes formed only 10 % of the property seekers, which in May 2015 stood at 40 %, the report stated.

The survey pointed out that almost 69 % of property seekers using mobile phones for home hunting are in the age group of 18-34 years, 13 % between 35-44 years, 7 % each in age group of 45-54 and 55-64 while only 4 % are those above 65 years of age.

Interestingly, the survey also found that there is a higher engagement by female buyers on mobiles and nearly 54% property seekers are women.
