Action against builder for chopping 15 trees of Surat Municipal Corporation
A Surat, based leading real estate developer was booked because he was chopping off 15 trees in Dabholi area for constructing a wall in compound. All the tress was 10-year-old and was owned by the SMC (Surat Municipal Corporation), whereas; in the process SMC lodged an FIR against builder under the Saurashtra Tree Felling Act 1951.
About Omkar Corporation:
All the 15 trees were cut off by Mr. Ramesh Bapotara, who is one of the partner owners in Omkar Corporation. While coming to ethics Omkar Corporation, has no business to chop off road side trees, especially those who are on footpath and doesn’t belong to private property. According to law official s, it was the criminal offence and SMC want to penalize the builder for this offence. S Gautam, who is garden superintendent of SMC stated that I had lodged the complaint under Saurashtra Tree Felling Act 1951against of Mr. Ramesh Bapotara.
In last 10 days it is third time when any builder booked for such offence, as first person was the residents of Shantiniketan society who chopped off tree to construct the road for their society and second person was from Venus Advertisers, who chopped off trees at different locations (three) for making the space to place the advertising hoardings. However; Surat green is working to cover the requirement of at 15 lakh trees, but still it has less than 3 lakh trees in the municipal area of Surat.
