Now, verify the validity of a property with an SMS instantly in Pune !
Up till now, citizens had to visit the sub-registrar’s office (SRO) to ascertain the validity of a property document. But now, the facility which has been introduced by the State Inspector -General of Registration, will allow people to check whether a document has been registered with the sub-registrar’s office or not by just sending an SMS.
This SMS-based facility that furnishes updates on property documents has drawn more than 1,700 queries from citizens in the last two months. The system allows instant verification of registered property documents. “While Nearly 800 messages were received per month for genuine documents, the system had not counted messages which did not have the requisite details,” said officials from IGR.
Presently, only details of documents registered after July 2012 are available through the system. However, Plans are in the works to upload details of documents registered between 2002 and 2012 in the next one month. The IGR said it also has plans to scan registered documents and upload them on a central server, especially those which were manually registered between 1985 and 2001.
Officials at the IGR said that the initial response to the service was quite good and more citizens are expected to use the facility in the coming months. In order to reach out to more citizens, the IGR plans to display details of the facility at sub-registrar’s offices. Besides, a user manual has already been uploaded on the IGR website to educate people on the working of SMS system.
