The Government has proposed to clear large part of the Mumbai Port Trust Land for commercial, recreational and residential purposes. This is reminiscent of the old plan to provide defunct mill land in Lower Parel to construct residential and retail projects.

Are we seeing the beginning of a new movement in Mumbai’s real estate which could change the property map of our megapolis?

If the state implements its plans, the Eastern seaboard of the port city should experience a metamorphosis. In fact, this reinvention would extend to most of the railway line bordering the Arabian Sea.

It appears that certain areas neighboring MPTL have sensed the changing waves and steered their development routes to meet the exciting renovation.

Residential projects have begun to emerge in areas like Wadala, Byculla and Sewri. These promise to harbor citizens in abodes that will allow them spectacular views of the MPTL and other areas of the Eastern shore.

New developments by renowned developers like Peninsula Land Limited, Godrej Properties, RNA, L and T Realty and Dosti Realty are set to break ground in these micro markets.

Some landmark projects coming up are

Celestia Spaces, Near Ashok Gardens, Sewri

Godrej Sky, D P Wadi, Byculla

Metropolis, Shivaji Nagar

Crescent Bay, Boiwada, Parel

Dosti Flamingos, Near Ashok Gardens, Sewri
